US Secretary of State on Crisis in Sudan and Ethiopia

US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken condemned the violence against pro-democracy protesters in Sudan and reiterated calls to reinstate the ousted Prime Minister Abdalla Hamdok.

Sudan’s doctors union said at least 14 people were killed on Wednesday when security forces opened fire on the crowd of protesters.

In an interview with Anne Soy, the BBC’s main Africa correspondent, Blinken also defended the US decision to suspend Ethiopia from duty-free access to the US market starting in January, saying that a country committing rights abuses Humans cannot benefit from the treaty.
