‘My name is Ben and sometimes I get depressed’

A 23-year-old man at Leeds train station with a sign that says “It’s okay to talk” said a conversation could change a life.

Ben Ogden of Skipton said his mental health had worsened during the course of the pandemic, but by speaking he was able to move on.

The 23-year-old added that there were times when he just “didn’t want to go out into the world,” but that “it’s 2021 and it’s very important to talk about this.”

His friend, Matthew Payne, 21, was also battling anxiety around the same time and, after opening up with Ben, said that “one conversation just changed my life.”
