17 arrested in big brawl at Soroka hospital in Beersheba

A massive fight broke out Sunday night between the Talalka and Alexasi families at the Soroka Medical Center in Beersheba, during which shots were heard outside the hospital doors. Two young men from Rahat were injured and required medical treatment. After about an hour, order was returned to the area.

Youths were seen throwing rocks and hitting each other near a municipal security vehicle. Police forces are working at the scene to restore order, arresting 17 suspects and opening an investigation into the incident.

The Negev Rescue Committee stated that “another line has been crossed in the framework of criminal terrorism. The inhabitants of the city of Beersheba are hostages of terrorism that blurs Ben-Gurion’s vision. Shooting inside a humanitarian facility crosses a line. red “.

Shimon Tuval, Deputy Mayor of Beersheba stated that “what is happening here is crazy. We not only lost Beersheba, we lost the entire country. The shooting in a hospital is a red line that cannot be crossed.”

Pini Badash, head of Omar’s local council, warned that “the shooting in hospitals is the peak of the lack of government in the Negev. We must recover and quickly.”

On October 30, a massive fight broke out in the Hura local council area of the Negev, in the context of a dispute over land in the council by members of the same clan. During the fight, the participants, including the children, were documented throwing rocks at each other and a tractor running over the participants. Police arrested three suspects.

This is another incident of violence in Arab society and in the Negev in particular, in which many residents live in a sense of powerlessness in the face of a lack of governance. In early October, the police arrested a 15-year-old in the town of Hura where the fight took place, while in his possession a Glock pistol and two magazines with bullets. This occurred after the police were called to the city when they received reports of shooting, and the police officers who detained the boy at the scene searched him and took him away for questioning.
