PSG midfielder Diallo released by police

Diallo (number 20) leaves the field with his teammate Kheira Hamraoui (number 14) after a Champions League match at Breidablik in Iceland last month

Paris St-Germain female midfielder Aminata Diallo has been released without charge by French police investigating an attack on her teammate Kheira Hamraoui.

Diallo had been arrested Wednesday.

Diallo, 26, was driving Hamraoui and another unidentified teammate home after a team meal in Paris on November 4 when they were ambushed by two masked men.

The Versailles prosecutor’s office has not issued any further comment on the investigation.

Police have also released a 34-year-old man who had also been arrested in connection with the attack.

When the attack took place, Hamraoui, Diallo’s compatriot, was dragged out of the car and her legs were beaten.

Hamraoui, 31, was treated at the hospital and had stitches on her arms and legs.

In a statement issued Wednesday following Diallo’s arrest, PSG said they were working with police “to clarify the facts.”

In addition to strongly condemning “the violence committed”, the club added that “they have taken all necessary measures to guarantee the health, well-being and safety of the players” since the attack occurred.

Diallo, who has been international seven times for France, joined PSG in 2016 and has played more than 60 games for the club, but was on loan at Atl├ętico de Madrid last season.
