If there is one thing that liberal elites, especially black liberal elites, hate more than white peasants, it is black conservatives. The elites see them as sold out, or “Uncle Tom”. MSNBC anchor Joy Reid was once referred to the Supreme Court Justice Clarence thomasClarence ThomasWinsome Sears: The Last Black Conservative Who Made Liberals Nervous Will the Supreme Court Allow Constitutional Oversight to Be Bypassed by Texas Abortion Law? Has the Supreme Court been infected with Trump syndrome for a long time? PLUS like “Uncle Clarence”. And since they are not related, it was simply a cheap blow against a man whose conservative worldview makes him, in Reid’s opinion, a traitor to his race.
In 1991, then-Congressman Major Owens, a black liberal, testified against Confirming Thomas, comparing him to Vidkun Quisling, a Norwegian military officer who collaborated with the Nazis. Three years later, on PBS, political commentator Julianne Malveaux, another black liberal, said: “I hope his wife feeds him lots of eggs and butter and dies early, like many black men, of heart disease.” Now dean of Cal State University Los Angeles, Malveaux has he apologized for the comment, calling it a “joke”.
You would think that Judge Thomas was a great wizard in the Ku Klux Klan, from the way the elites attacked him. And, of course, he’s not the only black conservative pushing liberals up the wall.
When radio talk show host Larry Elder, a black conservative, ran this year to impeach the governor of California. Gavin newsomGavin Newsom Mostly Republican Governors Silent on Winsome Sears Infrastructure Bill: Latest Black Conservative to Make Liberals Nervous Newsom Joins Department of Corrections to Appeal Prison Vaccination Mandate MORE, a progressive Democrat, the Los Angeles Times ran an op-ed with the headline “Larry Elder is the black face of white supremacy. “The author, Erika D. Smith, is a left-wing black woman.
But for liberal elites, there is no shortage of white conservative blacks. So now we have Winsome Sears, the newly elected black conservative lieutenant governor of Virginia, who is the last black voice of so-called white supremacy. Without cheating.
Professor Michael Eric Dyson, a black intellectual who teaches at Vanderbilt University, was a guest on MSNBC the other day and said that Sears is a “ventriloquist” to white fans. “There is a black mouth in motion but a white idea running on the catwalk of the tongue of a figure that justifies and legitimizes white supremacist practices”, he said.
But of course Professor Dyson was not surprised: he does not expect anything good to come out of the mouth of a black conservative. “So having a black face speaking for a white supremacist legacy is nothing new,” he said.
As for Reid, who called Judge Thomas an Uncle Tom, on election night last week. she said“You have to be willing to express that these Republicans are dangerous, that this is not a party, it is just another political party that does not agree with us on fiscal policy, that at this moment they are dangerous. They are dangerous to our national security, because stoking that kind of soft, white nationalism eventually leads to hard things. “
But Sears, a former marine and the first black woman to be elected to state office in Virginia, would not accept any of that. “I wish Joy Reid would invite me to her show; let’s see if she’s female enough to do that.” she said on Fox News the day after he won. “I’d be gone in the blink of an eye and we’d have a real argument without Joy talking about me behind my back, so to speak.”
“I’m a heartbeat away from the governorship, in case something happens to the governor. How are you going to tell me that I am a victim? she said. “And I didn’t do anything special to get here, except to stay in school and study. I took advantage of the opportunities available here in the United States. “
“We can do better, it’s not 1963,” he added.
Except, when the issue is race, it’s always 1963 for the elites on the left. It’s always Birmingham, Alabama, and the hateful Connor bull, or some other racist place and person in the Old South. You’d think progressives would have, well, progressed by now. But they are trapped in the past. When it comes to race, the past is your safe space. It was then that blacks were victims and whites, their oppressors. Winsome Sears is telling them “it’s not 1963 anymore,” and that’s something they don’t want to hear.
It’s a good message, one that liberal elites, black and white, might think a bit about, if they weren’t so busy smearing black conservatives that they had the gall to walk away from the liberal plantation.
