West Ham Soccer Club Promises Action After Fan Anti-Semitism

West Ham United football club expressed shock after a video was posted on social media showing several fans of the club yelling “we have a foreskin, don’t we?” While a haredi man was boarding a flight on which they were traveling.

The flight was headed to Belgium, where West Ham faced KRC Genk in the Europa League.

In a clip shared by The Jewish Chronicle On Twitter, the club’s fans could be seen chanting “We have a foreskin, don’t we?” while a haredi man silently took flight.

In a second clip, fans could be seen chanting “Tottenham take a beating wherever they go” as the haredi man walked by. The chant seemed to refer to the fact that Tottenham Hotspurs, known as the Spurs, have a large Jewish following.

West Ham United stressed that it was “shocked” by the videos and condemned the behavior, according to UK media. The club stated that it was in contact with the airline and the relevant authorities to identify the people involved.

“We remain unequivocal in our position: we have a zero tolerance approach to any form of discrimination,” the club said in a statement to the media. “All identified individuals will receive an indefinite ban from the Club. Equality, diversity and inclusion are at the heart of the Football Club and we do not welcome anyone who does not share those values.”

Fans of club West Ham and other football clubs have used the same chant of “we have a foreskin, don’t we?” In past anti-Semitic incidents, including an incident in 2019, when West Ham fans wore it while singing about Spurs. .

“We will be running around Tottenham with the creeps hanging, singing I have a foreskin. And you? Fucking Jew, ”read the song sung in the 2019 incident.

The chant was also used by West Ham fans in an incident in the Jewish neighborhood of Stamford Hill in 2015.
