Howard University says student protests have led to layoffs

Howard University said ongoing student demonstrations at its student center have resulted in the firing of employees.

“#HUDAILYUPDATE We are saddened to report that the occupation of Blackburn has had unintended consequences for the HU community.” HU said in a statement Tuesday.

“Due to the cafe closing, some Sodexo workers have been laid off,” Howard University said. “We are committed to working with our students to avoid further repercussions like this. “

A group of social media users has criticized or “compared” the university’s response to student protests.
