Amazon opens distribution center in Ceará to accelerate deliveries

A Amazon announced this Thursday (28) the opening of operations of the new Distribution Center in the city of Itaitinga in Fortaleza, Ceará. The new CD is the first in the state and the third in the Northeast region, and aims to open around 400 direct and indirect jobs in the region, in addition to temporary opportunities during periods of Prime Day, Black Friday and Christmas.

In 2021 alone, Amazon generated more than 2,300 opportunities in the Operations area. The new center increases the company’s structure in Brazil, improving the consumer experience through a logistics system. In addition to general vacancies, as a way of reinforcing the company’s equity principles, the new DC is expected to have 50% of the positions held by women.

The Itaitinga Center has an area of ​​32,000 m², equivalent to three soccer fields, a new air conditioning system and changes to help fight the spread of covid-19 and guarantee the safety of its employees, such as social distance, masks, gloves and improvements to cleaning and sanitizing processes.

According to Ricardo Pagani, Amazon’s operations director in Brazil, the new operation will expand the range of products available in the region, ensuring more agility in delivery. According to the executive, the initiative will benefit “millions of consumers from different states who will have their deliveries made faster”.

Camilo Santana, Governor of Ceará, says he is happy with the arrival of Amazon, as it reflects the expansion of the regional logistics hub and, with the new operation, many opportunities will be generated for the citizens of Ceará.
